Dark Roses

This painting reimagines roses through a dramatic palette of crimson, black, and deep blue-green, turning a familiar floral subject into an image of intensity and atmosphere. Broad, forceful brushstrokes carve the blossoms out of darkness, giving them a sense of movement, weight, and emotional charge. The contrast between luminous red petals and the shadowed background heightens the work’s theatrical presence, while the loose handling keeps the flowers on the edge of abstraction. Rather than a delicate floral study, the painting presents roses as vivid, almost combustible forms suspended in a dark, expressive space.
