A resting cat lies beneath a patch of yellow light beside a striped vase and a single flower. Lavender, turquoise and muted blue shapes organise the scene into broad, gently curved areas. Alena Masyutina’s acrylic painting gives a domestic subject a playful graphic rhythm, with the cat’s relaxed posture providing the centre of the composition.
